Hi again!

I modified one of the alternate engine sounds so there are three sounds now. In the "AUD file 3" there is the sound file from "AUD file 2" but it uses the outside engine sounds for inside engine sounds. I think it is better than the original "AUD file 2".

New download link is in my first post and here:

Here is a fix for the bug on the bug!!!

mediafire.com download/jtlo96c97l2v6rg/vw_beetle66_chassis_a.gmt

The reason why it was striped is because it used the same material as the rear lights. I just cut the running boards off the chassis then renamed the material and stuck them back on to the chassis again.

Gee cheers
Thanks GeeDee highfive

Re: VW Beetle 1966 Forza Horizon 2 [Released]

Post  Citytea on Thu 5 Feb - 9:44

Hi mates!

Some of you know about the far grown experience of Ralph.B and me in building sounds and physics for some Beetles. Unfortunately none of them ever came to a release due to various different failures, all by responsibility at the 3d-models-section at least.

So this pretty well shaped model again was a reason, to put two of the physics by Ralph.B, who himself raced some enhanced Beetles at Salzburgring around 1974, to this model and add the depending sounds to it.

These are two models of physics, both with a Type 4-engine - a 2,5 L, which was based on a modern tire slick and a 2,8 L OHC, but this one with a tire-model, that fits more to the race-tires of 1975 - which means, that it is a beast - but a very nice one, if you once have made comfortable with it´s specialitys of power-oversteering and sliding with the back! Perfect for Slalom tracks.

I have built in one of my origine-shaped speedometers with a range up to 220 km/h, which is exactly the speed, both physics catch with the preselected gearbox. And I balanced the range of the speedometer at the .car-file.

The dds-files of the speedometer could stay outside the .gtl-folder(s, as thanks MOF we have a different one for the rr-set, I used), but the needle (NEEDLE_01.TGA), which is a moving object, has to be put into the "VW_Beetle66_rr_CPIT.gtl"-folder (or it´s pendant without rr) to work proper. (Ney - I really hope, you know how to do this meanwhile...wink)

As well you need to replace the following lines at the original "herbie" car-folders .car-files:

Eyepoint=(0.290, 0.965, 0.130) // I replaced the eyepoint a little, but this one is not necessary

SpeedometerRange=(15, 220, 235, 305)  //(<minvalue>, <maxvalue>, <beginangle>, <endangle>)
SpeedometerNeedle=(2.10, 1.60)

These two are made for the new speedometer, but at least the range should work as well much better with the genuine speedo. The needle-size is especially fitting the new needle, that rotates with an invisible knob directly around the knob of the instrument, which results in a more credible reflection, that is not moving with the needle! Smile

I have stored my installation of the Beetle at the tree: "GameData>Teams>Trackaholics>", so if you have a different tree, where yours is stored, you have to put the new content of the folder "VW Beetle 1966 Forza Horizon 2" manually directly into this folder at your system.

go get it HERE

(And - if there will be a new version of this car, with all collected new files - feel free to add this stuff to it, if you like, Ron - permission granted by Ralph and me!)

(I would very much appreciate some different rims for it - especially the ones of Splinterts Porsche 550 (with the thicker tire could fit it very well, I believe. Are you around here, mate?)

Hi!

If I use the "vw_beetle66_chassis_a.gmt" file (fix), the car looks like this:

Could anybody tell me what the problem is?

Thank you!

Where did you put the .GMT file? It should go in the folder 'VW Beetle 1966 Forza Horizon 2'... my fault for not mentioning this.

I hope it works okay but let me know m8. wink yes, yes

Hi!

Thank you for your answer. I put the file in the folder you mentioned. But the car becomes grey. If I delete the file, the car has the original skin (and the bug of course).
The situation is the same on every track.
