Now at last I had time to drive it! Looks superb, also on the cockpit view!highfive

But on the driving side, let me offer some constructive critizism: I think the front springs are way too hard! If you have a 50:50 weight distribution, obviously there is no reason why the front springs should be 3x harder than the rear springs. I think you need a physics/setup advisor! Smile

Reasonable for me seem springs 50-60 N/mm (both front and rear) and dampers (both front and rear):

bump slow 3500 - 4000
bump fast 1750 - 2000
rebound slow 8000 - 9000
rebound fast 4000 - 4500 (for stiffer springs you need more damping)

I know that some of you don´t mind, but I like to have the best possible performance out of a model, also out of a virtual model. And that way it becomes more realistic, too, which is important for a simulation! Cool

If you want, I can check the basic performance setups before release in the future! handshake

Ron does the conversions of the cars and leaves the tuning of the physics for those who wish to do so.

So Ron won't mind at all if you play around with his files as long as you let him know what you are doing or have done.

So get ya welding kit on and do your damnedest man!!!!! Yeeeehawwwww!!! oh yeah!

That´s great to hear! o_y!Of course, I will not change any primary performance details, like power, drag, wings etc., but it will be basically the same car, tuned to maximal driving performance (while staying easy to drive), like gearing, springs, dampers, brakes etc.

I thought of offering two basic downloads then, ORIGINAL and TUNED_BY_ZS, so you could extract my specifications, and if you don´t like it then, can easily revert to the original settings by extracting the original settings. Then you don´t have to bother with renaming the files.

Stay tuned for the update! Very Happy

Tuned

Post  Zziggy Sternenstaub on Mon 8 Jul - 19:33

Tuning for Maserati Ghibli 1997 by Zziggy Sternenstaub

Just extract "Teams" in "Tuned by ZS" to ...GTR2\Gamedata\
If you want to revert to the original settings, extract "Original" the same way.

Driven by AI in Spa 2003, the tuned car is about 6s faster

Changed:
*.eng:
- changed redline to 8000 rpm
- lowered radiatorcooling so engine gets to perform in optimal temperature

*.grb:
- made first gear longer for better acceleration

*.hdc:
- ride height now has a bigger range
- changed spring and damper settings to softer
- synchronized spring and damper settings (spring 40 = damper 1, spring 45 = damper 2 etc.)
- added packers
- raised braketorque for better brake performance
- antiswaybars: 0 allowed for better traction in low speed corners
- antiswaybars: more settings in upper range
- raised upper limit of front tyre pressure
- added Notes
- new default setup values
Maserati Ghibli Cup still to come! oh yeah!

Maserati Ghibli Cup tuned by ZS

Post  Zziggy Sternenstaub on Tue 9 Jul - 10:32

Tuning for Maserati Ghibli Cup 1997 by Zziggy Sternenstaub

Mod by Ron123

Just extract "Teams" in "Tuned by ZS" to ...GTR2\Gamedata\
If you want to revert to the original settings, extract "Original" the same way.

Driven by AI (at 105) in Nurburgring/Mojo, the tuned car is about 18s faster

Changed:
*.eng:
- corrected "rpm torque brake > throttle @ 0.000"
- changed redline to 8000 rpm
- lowered radiatorcooling so engine gets to perform in optimal temperature

*.grb:
- added more gear settings
- shortened final drive

*.hdc:
- ride height now has a bigger range
- changed spring and damper settings to softer
- synchronized spring and damper settings (spring 40 = damper 1, spring 45 = damper 2 etc.)
- added packers
- lowered camber settings to -4.0
- raised braketorque for better brake performance
- antiswaybars: 0 allowed for better traction in low speed corners
- antiswaybars: more settings in upper range
- raised upper limit of front tyre pressure
- added Wings (copied from Simbins BMW Z3M)
- added Notes
- new default setup values

Both Ghibli and Ghibli Cup are now in this download, so I removed the link from previous post:

I found the clutch slip s a bit so to fix it I put these overwrote some lines in both of the .hdc files (open with NotePad):

[DRIVELINE]
ClutchEngageRate=0.8          //Auto clutch gradual engagement rate from neutral to 1st gear.
ClutchInertia=0.0148
ClutchTorque=1400.0
ClutchWear=0.0
ClutchFriction=20.0
BaulkTorque=1250.0

Don't forget to save if you try it to.
